STATEMENT
What does it mean to be an artist? The Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth. That means at one time there was nothing. Not even a 'blank canvas' to use the expression. No, God created the 'canvas' and then he created the 'tools' and 'paints' needed to make his masterful works. He created not out of obligation, but out of love.

What does it mean to be an artist? It means that out all possible gifts and talents, that we…the creative ones…have been blessed with that same ability, to create. True, it's nowhere near the force of forging an ever expanding universe. The majority of the time we merely copy what we see and never achieve the warmth of a sunset or the quiet peace and beauty of a snow-covered landscape we try so hard to imitate. Nevertheless, there it is. The spark when a new idea hits. The passionate hard work of going through the process to get the piece just right. And the sheer joy when others understand and enjoy the piece created. Being an artist is a humbling and joyful experience wrapped in love!

It is my deepest hope that in the galleries to follow, you–the viewer–see evidence of an artist that is in the process of ever expanding his artistic universe. That you understand the spark that led to much time and effort to get the artwork (and this website) to where they are. That you see the sheer passion to capture the small moments of the human experience. And maybe that you find a smile on your face after you view the work. I'm eternally grateful to be given the gifts of the artist. And just like my father, I want to share them with you.
